Just one month on from AMD’s release of their RDNA 2 mid-range graphics card, the RX 6600 XT; AMD has unveiled the non-XT variant. Again, like it’s sibling, the RX 6600 is primarily designed to occupy 1080p.
Although there are reference attributes from AMD, there will be no reference model of RX 6600 and instead, gamers will need to turn to partner board models. Under the hood, those attributes are almost identical to the XT with the same memory features – 8GB VRAM, 128-bit bus, 16000MHz frequency. The difference lies in the reduction of shader units and GPU clock boost which is down to 1792 from 2048 and 2589MHz to 2500MHz.
Since there is no reference design for this graphics card, today we’ll be turning to GIGABYTE for a look at their RX 6600 Eagle. Of the different models within GIGABYTE’s lineup, Eagle is the base option and offers the best value for money.
Is the new RX 6600 worth considering for 1080p gamers? Let’s check it out!
